Tough to pick three nominees from such a superb team performance, but the stand outs for me where:

Willian, who ran around like a Duracell bunny all night – where does he get his energy from? His runs and tracking back were superb all night, but even better than that he scored a goal having helped superbly in the build up to it and unselfishly laid another one on a plate for Drogba.

Fabregas pulled all the strings once again and was at the heart of most of Chelsea’s good build up work. He also put a great shift in and tackled back with steel and determination. What impresses me most though is the intelligence and vision he brings to the game such as spotting Costa’s run and that the centre back was out of position so putting a ball over the top for him to run on to.

Finally, the glue that binds it all together is Matic – I suspect he is Jose’s favourite player – but he is literally everywhere, always nicking the ball away from the opposition and setting up the next attack. He seldom gives the ball away or as a Dutch commentator said: “It’s easier to snatch a Tiger cub away from his mother than the ball from Nemanja Matić.”
