But to the Galatasary away first. Most of the lads that I knew out there all came back saying it was one of the best away trips of all time. A great mix of the old guard and the yoof, and a great time was had by all. Chelsea made themselves heard in the stadium too, and poured scorn on the intimidating Galatasary fans and their atmosphere. “Its so quiet Istanbul” derserves a mention, but the nomination goes to “Welcome to Hell, you’re having a laugh” which sums up the trip quite aptly.
At Fulham, the True Blue Massive went through nearly the entire repetoire of Chelsea songs with good effect. But they also came up with a new (if somewhat unoriginal) song for the deserving Andre Schurrle. To the sounds of Pigbag: “Do Do Do Do…Andre Schurrle”. We always love new songs for players, so in spite of Jonny T’s nomination for “You’re not Adebayor” for a hapless Fulham steward, the Schurrle song get’s the nod.
Another reason why Jonny T’s choice misses out is that several times one of my favourite Chelsea songs of all time could be heard ringing out. Eight years ago on Saturday Chelsea lost its most famous and greatest son. Peter Osgood – the King of Stamford Bridge. If you are ever going to sing his famous song then the anniversary of his death has tobe the right time. For that reason “Osgood, Osgood, Born is the King of Stamford Bridge’ gets the third nomination for Chant of the Match.
