And the nominations are:

Eden Hazard seems to be getting better and better each week. Also the weight of responsibility as our only creative outlet and scorer for that matter seems to have been lifted giving him more freedom in the process. He’s getting more time and space thanks to Fabregas and Costa. Add to that he was often seen tracking back to tackle Coleman and he is obviously adding work rate to his game. Apart from being responsible for Coleman’s own goal, he made 17 successful attacking passes out of 18 attempted ad I am told that he has created 16 chances this season. No other PL player has created more than 8!

Fabregas was given the number 10 role yesterday in the absence of Oscar, and he conducted the Chelsea orchestra like a maestro. He also seems to have toughened up from the rather effete player seen at Arsenal and Barcelona – it must be the new company he is keeping! Several lovely defence splitting passes to Costa in particular caught the eye, but his all round play and especially his constant availability and movement into space was the key to Chelsea’s attacking threat.

And finally Costa. What more can we say! Two superb goals, and several excellent attempts. But add to that two great tackles near his own penalty area and we can see that this man gives 150% for the cause. He was often seen berating his own players for not tracking back or being at it! And he was a constant thorn in the opposition’s side – especially Coleman who had to resort to niggly fouls to get Costa yellow carded. He even goaded Coleman for scoring the own goal and then stood his ground when ‘Taliban Tim’ Howard lost it. I especially enjoyed him leaving Distin on his arse when scoring his second goal. Oh and did we mention the mental goal celebrations? The complete performance from the complete centre forward. He really is Chelsea’s missing link isn’t he!
