And the nominations are:

This week the nominations go to what I am going to call Chelsea’s ‘Golden Triangle’. These three players are at the heart of everything that Chelsea does creatively and is pleasing to the eye. They are also increasingly working very well together to create the openings, and they are:

Cesc Fabregas who was the orchestrator in chief, always available and ready to play a short or long pass, or give and go.He set up Oscar for his fantastic goal and claimed his ninth assist of the season in the process. He really is proving to be the last and most important piece in the Chelsea jigsaw.

Eden Hazard buzzes around like a bee on crack using his pace to devastating effect. He turns, passes, runs at the defence, always full of flicks and back heels but always looking to put someone through for a chance on goal. When that doesn’t work he takes things in to his own hands as he did in winning the penalty. And as he stepped up every single Chelsea supporter just knew that he would bury it. He simply doesn’t miss does he.

Last and by no means least Oscar. Obviously he scored a wonderful goal that arguably only a player of his undoubted world class could score. But he did so much more than that. On Saturday he was at the heart of everything. Passing, shooting, free kicks, give and go’s – you name it. But what impressed me most was his work rate and tracking back to tackle and win the ball back when we lost it or got caught in possession. What tenacity, what an engine and what a player. He really does have the lot – a perfect Mourinho player.
