Premier League Gameweek 2: Fanduel Players of the Week

As FanDuel enters its second week of daily fantasy Premier League competitions Ross Mooring takes a look at the best options for your team to help you win cash prizes. The Chelsea FanCast boys are entering the £10K Fan Favourite this week which pays down to 536th place so you have every chance of at least doubling your entry fee!

Enter the promocode ‘CHELSEAFAN’ on sign up and if you don’t win cash in your first contest, FanDuel will return your entry fee up to £10!

FanDuel Players of the Week:

With the aim of scoring as many points as possible through a range of player stats including passes, tackles and shots on target as well as the traditional point scorers goals and assists within a £100m team budget, the optimum strategy is to select a few heavy hitters up front such as Sergio Aguero combined with medium-value players in positive matchups and bargain priced scorers to create a high-floor, high-ceiling lineup aimed at securing a cash prize finish while giving team owners a shot at high finishes too (1st place pays £1,000!).

With this in mind, here are the best value plays of the week for the Saturday contests:

Goalkeeper: Michel Vorm, Tottenham, £4.3m

With Hugo Lloris likely out for at the least the rest of the month, Michel Vorm is going to be a heavily targeted play behind Spurs’ cohesive defensive unit managed by Mauricio Pocchetino. Vorm is available for half the price of the best number ones on FanDuel. While Crystal Palace are no slouches going forward, with Christian Benteke not yet an Eagle Tottenham will be looking to keep a clean sheet at home.

Defender: Ragnar Klavan, Liverpool, £4m

The unheralded Estonian defender will be looking to keep his place in the Liverpool starting XI with a number of players still out through injury for Jurgen Klopp to select. Klavan put in a decent performance at Arsenal and Liverpool will be looking to secure maximum points in games they will have to win to contend for the top four. Klavan is less than half the price of “teammate” Alberto Moreno!

Midfielder: Eden Hazard, Chelsea, £11m

No Chelsea FanCast entry should be without a Chelsea player, least of all Hazard, who is a remarkable value (probably based off his poor performances of last season) at £11 million versus rivals such as Mezut Ozil (£12.1m), Kevin De Bruyne (£14m) and even Cesc Fabregas (£11.1m) on his own team. You don’t need me to tell you he will score heavily in what could be a high-scoring game at Watford.

Forward: Fernando Llorente, Swansea, £6m

If you’ve elected to spread the wealth a little more in defence and midfield, the imposing Spaniard has a good chance to repeat his positive points scoring performance following his debut at Burnley. Llorente comes in at a snip at £6 million and has a great opportunity to open his goalscoring account for the Swans at home to Hull. Even if he doesn’t score, with FanDuel rewarding shots on targets, the ex-Juventus man should contribute to your tally nicely.

FanDuel tip of the week:

FanDuel’s Saturday contests kick off at 12.30pm and you can change your lineup at any time up until kick off. Select your teams during the week while taking a mental note of alternative value options and upgrades and then scan the announced team sheets an hour before kick off to make sure a) your players are playing and b) to look out for surprise starters on the cheap in positive situations at home or against poor opposition. Last week, I substituted out Joe Hart (who ended up not even playing in the late kick off) for Wayne Hennessey who started over new signing Steve Mandanda and used the savings to upgrade in defence where Kyle Walker scored nearly 30 points.

Good luck all and UTC!

Ross Mooring

About FanDuel:

Chelsea FanCast has partnered with FanDuel to enter games over every Premier League weekend. The boys on the FanCast will each enter a team and compete against each other and our listeners and hopefully win a few quid or at least the plaudits of our peers!

You select a team of Premier League players for a single round of fixtures, so you’re not locked in for the whole season. You can play, watch, (and win money if you’re good enough!) in one day. You can play for free, or put your own money on the line for bigger payouts.

We’ve all entered the £10K Fan Favourite this week – which covers only the Saturday games. It’s £5 entry with £10,000 in prizes going to the top 536 football managers, £1000 to first place.

You have £100m to spend. No subs, no captains just eleven shirts to fill, and the perfect formation to find. Splash out on the dead certs and hunt out the hidden gems.

FanDuel was designed by football fans like us, and is powered by Opta stats. It’s about much more than goals, assists, and clean sheets. Every pass, interception, every tackle…they’ve all got big implications.

FanDuel’s scoring reflects a player’s true performance whatever their position. (See full rules here: www.fanduel.co.uk/howtoplay. If you sign up with the promocode CHELSEAFAN, then FanDuel will return your entry fee as free credit if you don’t win cash in your first contest.
