A statistical preview of our forthcoming Premier League clash.

When the fixture list for the new Premier League season was announced, it is highly improbable that anyone anticipated that Chelsea’s home fixture against the Hornets would denote a battle between fifth and fourth place.  Nonetheless, the division tends to surprise us, and it has done that once more.

Marco Silva’s side has only lost one out of their eight Premier League fixtures, by contrast, we’ve already amassed three defeats in the league. However, we do flaunt the same number of victories as our opponents this weekend.

There have been 31 meetings between the two teams, Chelsea has won 16 of those – a percentage that is marginally above 50% – while the Hornets have achieved nine victories against the Champions, the other six games were draws.

Chelsea is currently experiencing a period of sustained success against Watford. Our last defeat against them came in 1999 a 1-0 defeat at Vicarage Road in the league. In the twelve following games since our last loss, we’ve won nine games and drawn three.
In the last five league meetings between the two clubs, Watford are winless, and they’ve only managed two draws, the other three games were Chelsea victories.

History suggests that the Blues should triumph tomorrow, let us hope for an exceedingly positive result!
