The international break has ended, and attention has been diverted back towards the Premier League.

The Eagles’ deterioration this season has been well-publicised. Many of you will be tired of reading that they’ve made to the worst ever start to the season in Premier League history, having failed to score a single goal and thus, a single point in their opening seven games.

Indeed, the decision to replace Frank De Boer – who only had five games in charge as Palace boss – evoked an indisputable sense of controversy. His successor, Roy Hodgson has failed to alter the form of his new team positively.

While our opponents have made a truly horrendous start to the new campaign, it would be irrefutably naïve and rash to disregard them entirely. London derbies are historically acknowledged for their entertainment, and we must be on our very best tomorrow.

Throughout the history of meetings between the two teams, Chelsea flaunts a record of 24 victories, 15 draws and 11 defeats. This historical dominance is apparent, yet fortunes have been more evenly balanced in recent times.  In the last five games between the two teams – all of which have been in the Premier League – we’ve registered three victories, while Palace has two to their name. The most recent of which was a 2-1 triumph at Stamford Bridge last season.

We must be aware of the threat that they pose!
