An intriguing question indeed!

If you tuned in to the 400th episode of the Chelsea Fancast – an exceedingly superb achievement – you would have heard Chidge and the boys contemplating whether Rudiger and Christensen should replace Gary Cahill and David Luiz for our upcoming Champions League game against Roma.

The consensus was that this is what Conte should do, an insinuation that our impassioned Italian manager should choose his players based on merit as opposed to their respective statuses. This isn’t to suggest that Luiz and Cahill are poor players, that’s far from the truth, and our panel acknowledged more than most their undeniable significance to the club.

Nonetheless, considering the ease and the comfort that Palace enjoyed attacking our defensive unit, perhaps a change of personnel will instil greater solidity and protection in defence. It will be interesting to see what Conte does.
