Exciting news from Chelsea’s commercial director!

The beautiful game is increasingly becoming associated with brands and companies as a method of creating revenue, and Chelsea’s commercial director, Chris Townsend, has revealed his intentions to double the club’s revenue during his first interview since being appointed commercial director.

Townsend expressed his desire to amass revenue more than £650M to ensure that the club remains competitive with Europe’s most distinguished and reputable clubs.

He has outlined his intention of establishing Chelsea as one of the top five teams in Europe regarding revenue; we’re currently positioned in eighth place.

Additionally, Townsend expressed his ambition of increasing the club’s sponsors from 12 to between 30-35.

“Manchester United, Manchester City and others have anywhere between 50 and 70 [sponsors]. We plan to focus on more premium brands in a far more limited range of categories. By creating additional revenues for Chelsea, it allows one to invest more in players”.
