A look at Swansea City ahead of our forthcoming fixture.

The story so far

Following the heroic revival that Swansea City enjoyed under the knowledgeable guidance of former coach, Paul Clement, last season, many anticipated that the Swans would prolong their fine form with the former Bayern assistant this term.

Much to the dismay of the Welsh supporters, Swansea have endured an exceedingly tricky start to the new campaign. The departures of Sigurdsson and Llorente – two players who were utterly instrumental in their battle for survival last season – have been to the detriment of the South Wales club, who’ve been unable to recover the creativity and the goal-scoring prowess that the pair provided.

The Swans are currently positioned in 19th place in the league, and Clement is facing a very precarious situation, his position as manager is indeed under scrutiny. In 13 league games, they have only amassed nine points.

Best player

According to WhoScored, the experienced Kyle Naughton has been the Swans’ best player this season. The former Tottenham defender has been a Swansea player since 2015, and he’s featured in every single league game for Paul Clement’s side this term.

Despite being an ever-present fixture in Swansea’s defence, he’s been powerless to negate the issues that have thwarted the Swans. However, it is worth considering that Paul Clement’s team have only conceded 15 goals which isn’t reflective of a club in Swansea’s position – that’s just four goals more than Chelsea have conceded in the league this season!

We must be at our best to beat the Swans!
