Here’s our four talking points from Chelsea’s draw with Liverpool.

Much of the discussion before the game was focused on the Red’s attacking dynamism and the Blues’ splendid recent form. The match itself succeeded to reflect the excitement and anticipation that characterised the pre-match analysis.

Eden Hazard was at his stunning best and was often solely responsible for the creation of purposeful goal-scoring chances. Similarly, Mohammed Salah continued his terrific form for Jurgen Klopp’s men; he was their source of creativity and invention throughout the entirety of the ninety minutes.

A mistake from Tiemoue Bakayoko gifted the Reds with the game’s opening goal. Nonetheless, the Premier League champions flaunted relentless determination to rescue the game, courtesy of a stunning goal from Willian.

The Brazilian produced an exceedingly productive display against Qarabag midweek, scoring twice and providing two assists in our 4-0 triumph, and he secured a point for the Blues with a stunning chip against Liverpool. Whether you thought his goal was intentional or not is dependent on your perception, it was an outstanding goal nonetheless.

The Belgian is beginning to demonstrate his most explosive form this season, and his supreme string of performances were elongated against Liverpool. The 26-year-old often shouldered the reasonability of allowing the team to advance by utilising his unparalleled dribbling ability.  He also provided the assist for Willian’s decisive goal.

Since the institution of the 3-5-2 formation, the Spaniard is beginning to illustrate his best form. With the increased defensive protection, the 30-year-old can channel and exploit his creative influence. When he was introduced for the final twenty minutes against Liverpool, there was far greater purpose and structure to our play.

To his credit, the 23-year-old has been recovering from injury for most of his Chelsea career. Despite this, the Frenchman has managed to attain numerous impressive performances, most notably his display against Manchester United.  However, the former Monaco midfielder produced a mightily disappointing performance against Liverpool, characterised with mistakes and carelessness. Most notably, his error allowed Oxlade-Chamberlain to assist Salah’s goals.

Out of all the teams that Antonio Conte has faced in the Premier League, Liverpool is the only club that our passionate Italian has failed to beat during his reign as Chelsea manager. Despite the fact that the Blues are unbeaten at Anfield since 2012, we’ve been unable to triumph against the Reds in the previous five games in all competitions.
