Where did it all go wrong?

According to Sky Sports, as per Calciomercarto, Chelsea have concluded their interest in Juventus’ left-back, Alex Sandro. This is particularly interesting when considering that Sandro was a prominent transfer target for Antonio Conte throughout the entirety of the previous transfer window.

The Brazilian has been displaced as Juventus’ starting left-back, and the 26-year-old has only made 11 starts for the Turin club. Sky Sports reportedly stated that the Blues have decided to end their pursuit of the Brazil international as his performances have deteriorated at the Italian club, and Chelsea are allegedly of the opinion that they’ll pay too much for his services.

Currently, Marcos Alonso is the only recognised left wing-back that Antonio Conte has at his disposal. Accordingly, another wing-back looks hugely probable this window, and many believed that Alex Sandro was the one most likely to make the move to Stamford Bridge.

It will be interesting to see if this story develops over the coming days.
