This is an exciting thought!

In his weekly press-conference, Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte, confirmed that he could opt to play Morata and Giroud together for the Blues.

Since his arrival in 2016, Antonio Conte has been attributed as the reason that the league has seen a switch to formations that include three at the back.

Having lost successive games against Liverpool and Arsenal, the Italian manager opted to introduce the 3-4-3 formation, and the rest – as they say – is history.

Olivier Giroud completed a £18M deadline day switch to the Blues from Arsenal, and he made a purposeful impact during his first start for the club in our 3-0 victory against West Brom on Monday night.

The Frenchman assisted Eden Hazard’s first goal of the game, and he proved to be an excellent point of reference for the team throughout the 60 minutes that he was on the pitch.

Antonio Conte discussed the possibility of playing Morata and Giroud together. The following quotes are from the Metro.

‘I think that in the future yes, it could happen.

If we decide to play with the three midfielders. But during the game can happen, but now I think it’s very soon to answer this question.

Don’t forget we are playing with a system from last season and in the case [I play with two strikers] it means Hazard, Pedro and Willian are out.

On the importance of having such options available to him, yeah for sure, in this moment it’s important to have all your players available.

To have two No.9s, Morata and Giroud, to have two options is very important for us. Don’t forget for a lot of time we tried to play with Hazard as a No.9!’
