The Frenchman was pleased with his first game for the club.

In light of our convincing 3-0 victory against West Bromwich Albion, Olivier Giroud spoke with chelseafc.com to express his delight having made his first start for the club.

The French striker registered his first start for the Blues in an emphatic victory against Alan Pardew’s struggling Baggies. West Brom are situated at the bottom of the Premier League table, and their latest defeat compounded further misery in their ambitions to beat the drop.

In contrasting fashion, Olivier Giroud enjoyed a purposeful game as he assisted Eden Hazard’s opening goal. Despite signs of fatigue, the 31-year-old demonstrated unparalleled strength and refined vision, as he provided the Blues with a useful attacking outlet.

While considering that Antonio Conte was incredibly eager to sign a target man in the January transfer window, it seems that Giroud is the perfect option for the impassioned Italian manager. He is valued at £18M by transfermarkt.

Here’s what Giroud told the official Chelsea website, you can read the rest of the interview here.

‘It was very exciting for me, I was looking forward to making my debut at Stamford Bridge, so I feel very good. Obviously, I had the studs on my head, and afterwards I needed some stitches at half-time, but I feel okay. The main thing was the calf, when I received a kick from behind. It was sore so hopefully I’m going to recover quickly. It’s part of the game and as long as it’s not on purpose it’s okay, I’m used to it and the doctor has done a good job.

I’m very happy for the team, obviously we needed those three points and we needed confidence for the following games. We done the job, it was a clean sheet, three goals and we could have scored more. It’s true that the team wasn’t playing with full freedom at times but that’s normal after two disappointing results.’
