A statistical look: The 3 Crystal Palace players that Chelsea should fear the most

We’re taking a statistical look at the Eagles ahead of this weekend’s Premier League clash.

Our London rivals are facing a precarious situation at the bottom of the Premier League table. The Eagles are situated in 18th place in the division, having only amassed 27 points from 29 games – an average of less than a point per game.

With only nine league games remaining in the season, Palace are fighting for their lives. Accordingly, the South London team will have sufficient motivation as they travel to Stamford Bridge for this weekend’s game.

Proceedings are incredibly tight at the bottom of the league, only seven points separate Stoke City in 19th and Brighton who are located in the tenth spot.

We’ve decided to use the statistics website, Whoscored, to determine Crystal Palace’s most dangerous players. The players will be ranked by their average rating across the season.

#3 – James Tomkins 7.15

The English centre-half has been one of Palace’s best performers in the league this season. He has amassed 20 league appearances for Hodgson’s side, scoring one goal and impressing from a defensive perspective. West Ham’s former defender averages 1.8 tackles per game and also completes 2.6 interceptions per game.

#2 – Wilfried Zaha 7.17

Arguably Palace’s most menacing talent. The Ivorian has been injured for the past month, and he is allegedly a doubt for the Chelsea game. Despite contributing to only five goals this season (scoring four and assisting one), he is a gifted dribbler who averages 4.1 dribbles per game. Also, he tends to complete key passes; he’s averaged 1.8 per game this term.

#1 – Alexander Sørloth 7.27

Despite only making three league appearances for the Eagles, the Norwegian forward has had a positive impact at Palace. The 22-year-old is proficient in the air; he’s won five aerial duels per game so far. He’s also averaged two key passes per game. The Blues must be wary of his threat.
