We’re taking a historical look at Chelsea’s forthcoming fixture against the Eagles.

With thanks to the website, 11v11, we’re able to see that the Blues have a historical advantage against Crystal Palace.

The Blues’ next opponents are in a difficult situation at the bottom of the league. The Eagles are situated in 18th place in the Premier League, having attained only 27 points from 29 games – an average of less than a point per game.

Only nine games remain in the league this season, and Palace are battling frantically to ensure that they maintain their Premier League status.

Throughout history, there have been 51 meetings between the London rivals. Chelsea have been victorious on 24 occasions, while Palace have amassed 12 wins – the remaining 15 games were draws.

However, the Eagles have performed incredibly well in recent times. Roy Hodgson’s side have won three of the previous five games between the two teams.

Famously, Palace won at Stamford Bridge last season that provided Chelsea with a needed wake-up call on their way to the league title.

They also registered their first points of the season, in a 2-1 victory against the Blues at Selhurst Park. Chelsea will be hoping for a meaningful response on Saturday following their latest defeat to Manchester City.
