Unfortunate news for the promising Welshman.

As the London Evening Standard reports, Ethan Ampadu will be absent for the remainder of the season having fractured his ankle in Chelsea’s 4-2 triumph in the UEFA Youth League last week.

The Welshman has been massively impressive for Chelsea this season, having attained seven first-team appearances – which included a cameo in the Premier League.

The 17-year-old has had a phenomenal start to his professional career, and he’s even earned two caps for Wales. However, this injury has forced the versatile midfielder to pull out of the Wales squad for the China Cup – Ryan Giggs’ side won 6-0 against China today.

To have four starts for Chelsea at the age of 17 is enormously impressive, and everyone will hope that Ampadu will be back in the thick of the action next season. His future is undeniably bright, here’s hoping he’ll go from strength to strength next year!
