According to African Football, the Blues are keen to sign Kwadwo Asamoah from Juventus on a free transfer in the summer window.

The Ghanaian was signed by Antonio Conte for Juventus in 2012, and since his arrival he’s amassed 149 appearances for the Italian giants, scoring a respectable total of five goals.

He’s also been a vital figure for Ghana, having attained 69 caps for the national side. His contract with Juve expires at the end of the season, and it is reported that the Blues are interested in his services. The 29-year-old is highly regarded for his experience and versatility; he can operate as a defender on in midfield.

However, Chelsea will face stern competition for his signature. It is believed that Napoli, Galatasaray and Inter Milan are all interested in signing Asamoah. He is valued at £12.5M by transfermarket, and he could provide greater cover for Alonso at LWB.

Nonetheless, the recent signing of Emerson Palmieri may mean that the Blues do not require the presence of another LWB. It’ll be interesting to see how the story unfolds.
