The Frenchman played a crucial role in our 3-2 triumph against the Saints.

The 31-year-old has enjoyed a tremendous career in the , he scored 105 goals in 253 games for Arsenal, and he has amassed three goals in his opening 11 appearances for .

Since his arrival in the January transfer window, the French striker has looked lively and dangerous, and he scored his first goal for the club against Hull City in the FA Cup.

However, before yesterday, Giroud had failed to open his Chelsea account in the Premier League. He came close to scoring on his debut against Watford, and he even hit the post in our 2-1 triumph against Crystal Palace. Much to his delight, he showed clinical ruthlessness in front of goal against Southampton as he bagged an impressive brace.  He has since disclosed that he had a point to prove against the Saints. Long may his form continue!
