Following a frustrating first season with Chelsea, rumours are beginning to emerge of Morata’s potential departure.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, as cited by the Metro, the Italian giants have allegedly opened discussions with Morata over a possible return to the club. It is believed that Juventus are keen for Morata to replace Mario Mandzukic.

However, it is reported that the Blues value Morata at around £50M and they would prefer to see Morata depart on loan – if he were to leave Chelsea at all.

In 47 appearances for the Blues, Morata has amassed a total of 15 goals – 11 of which were scored in the Premier League. While that is indeed a decent number of goals, it’s conceivable to suggest that the club expected more from a player who commanded a £58M price tag last summer. It will be interesting to observe how this story develops over the course of the coming weeks.
