The Blues could be set to miss another of their reported transfer targets.

According to French outlet L’Equipe, as cited by the Metro, Arsenal have reportedly gained an advantage over Chelsea in the pursuit to sign Nice’s highly-rated midfielder, Jean Michaël Seri.

Seri – who is valued at £35M by transfermarkt – has been identified as a crucial target for the Blues. However, it seems that their London rivals have seized pole position.

The Gunners have recently appointed Raul Sanllehi as a director who allegedly has an excellent relationship with Seri. Correspondingly, it seems that Sanllehi could have a vital role to play in the pursuit of the 26-year-old midfielder.

Sanllehi was previously responsible for player recruitment at Barcelona, and they tried tirelessly to sign the Ivorian before Paulinho eventually joined the club.

Let’s hope that the Blues can defy the odds to sign the talented midfielder.
