It appears that these rumours emerge on a weekly basis.

According to the Daily Mirror, Real Madrid are prepared to seize upon Thibaut Courtois’ contractual uncertainty and offer him a move to the Spanish capital.

In March, Thibaut Courtois insisted that he’d still be at Chelsea next season. Nonetheless, he has yet to extend his current contract that expires in 12 months. He is currently valued at £54M by transfermarkt.

Conceivably, Chelsea would prefer to receive some money from the 26-year-old’s departure, rather than see him leave on a free transfer. Accordingly, it is likely that Courtois will leave the club in the summer transfer window.

It’s also important to consider that Courtois’ family are situated in Madrid, which could have an enormous impact on his potential decision to stay or leave.

If Courtois does decide to join Real Madrid, then the Blues must begin their preparations to identify and acquire his replacement.
