The Blues are poised to battle the Catalan giants for the signing of the Sevilla defender, Clement Lenglet.

According to France Football, as cited by Sport, the Blues are prepared to battle for the 22-year-old’s signature. Allegedly, the Blues have already held discussions with the French defender.

It is believed that Marina Granovskaia has held talks with Lenglet’s representatives and Chelsea could be prepared to offer the Frenchman a starting role within the first-team.

Lenglet registered 48 appearances and scored four goals in a breakthrough season with Sevilla. At the age of 22, he exhibits enormous potential, and he is valued at £22.5M by transfermarkt.

Whether the Blues need an additional defender is another debate, yet Lenglet aligns with the profile of player that the club has been looking to sign in recent windows.

It’s certainly interesting to observe Chelsea being linked with potential incomings while the club’s managerial situation is still ambiguous.
