Contrary to earlier reports, it seems that the Blues are still on course to sign Aleksandr Golovin.

Earlier in the week, Sky Sports reported that AS Monaco had stolen a lead to sign Aleksandr Golovin from CSKA Moscow following their “generous” bid for the 22-year-old’s services. Nonetheless, a couple of respected journalists on Twitter have declared that the Blues are still favourites to sign the Russian midfielder.

Alfredo Pedulla and Giulia Stronati have confirmed that Chelsea are closing in on his signing. The latter has said that the Blues are closing in on a €27M transfer for Golovin, and the dynamic midfielder will join the club on a five-year deal.

The CSKA Moscow midfielder enjoyed a tremendous World Cup campaign with Russia, where they surprisingly reached the quarter-finals of the tournament.

It seems that Maurizio Sarri is a keen admirer of Golovin, and given Golovin’s age, the club will be willing to finance a deal for a player of his enormous potential.

What are your thoughts? Should Chelsea sign Golovin? Let us know by voting in the poll!
