Chelsea to miss out on Higuain and Caldara

Chelsea target, Gonzalo Higuain, has agreed to join A.C. Milan on loan report Sky Italia.

A.C. Milan will pay a loan fee of €18-20 million and will have the option to buy the 30-year-old Argentine for £32 million at the end of the 2018/19 season.

As a consequence, Higuain will not be reunited with current Chelsea Head Coach, Maurizio Sarri. Sarri and Higuain worked together during the 2015/16 season at Napoli in which Higuain scored 36 times in 35 Serie A appearances. Last season, Higuain scored 23 goals in all competitions in helping Juventus retain Serie A.

With the transfer window closing on August 9th, time is running out for Maurizio Sarri to add to his squad. What seems more likely is that Álvaro Morata will stay at Chelsea for the upcoming season. Morata, 25, made 48 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea last season, scoring 15 goals. He was linked with a return to Italy this summer with former club Juventus and A.C. Milan interested. Milan, reportedly, baulked at Chelsea’s £62 million asking fee.

Chelsea target, Mattia Caldara will also move to the San Siro as part of the deal in a swap deal which will see Leonardo Bonucci return to Juventus. Bonucci, 31, spent seven years in Turin before making the move to Milan last summer.

Chelsea have missed out on both Higuain and Caldara. Who does Sarri target next? Let us know.
