Christian Pulisic is expected to remain at Borussia Dortmund until 2019, according to sources which have told ESPN’s Raphael Honigstein.

Pulisic, 19, a US international has a contract until 2020 with the German giants but postponed talks regarding an extension. This prompted Borussia to potentially cash in on the American prodigy. Dortmund are keen to avoid a repeat of the Robert Lewandowski saga which saw the Polish striker depart for Bayern Munich on a free transfer.

Chelsea faced competition, however, from Liverpool as well as from Bundesliga champions, Bayern Munich and Champions League winners, Real Madrid, as per  The Mail.

The American is highly regarded by Chelsea hierarchy and would take a bid in excess of £60 million to lure the 19-year-old to London. However, according to the Standard, any move for the American would be dependent on Willian’s potential departure.

Willian has been linked with an exit all summer; Barcelona have failed with three bids and former Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho remains interested in the Brazilian. A potential swap deal could occur between Chelsea and Manchester United with Willian making the move to Manchester and French winger, Anthony Martial making the move to SW6.

Another twist has emerged in the Willian saga as recently as Monday. When speaking to Brazilian television show, Esporte Espetacular, Willian revealed plans to return to ‘his club’ and when pressed further, the 29-year-old responded: I’m very happy at Chelsea and I’m very happy in London.

A change in attitude it seems from the Brazilian now that Conte has finally departed. Any move for Pulisic will be a consequence of Willian departing SW6. This is surely going to rumble on until the August 9th deadline.
