Chelsea Football Club have confirmed that striker, Michy Batshuayi, has joined Valencia on a season-long loan.

Renowned Belgian journalist, Kristof Terreur confirmed that there is no option to buy included in the loan deal.

Batshuayi, 24, has a contract at Chelsea until the summer of 2021. Since signing from Marseille in the summer of 2016, the Belgian striker has made 53 appearances, scoring 19 goals. His most notable goal in Chelsea colours came on May 11th 2017 away to West Bromwich Albion which secured Chelsea their fifth Premier League title.

He spent the second half of the 2017-18 season on loan at Bundesliga giants, Borussia Dortmund. Batshuayi was surplus to requirements following Chelsea’s acquisition of former Arsenal striker, 31-year-old, Olivier Giroud.

Batshuayi sustained an ankle ligament injury in a defeat to Schalke in April but prior to this, he impressed in the Bundesliga. In 10 league appearances, Batshuayi scored seven and assisted one.

Valencia finished fourth in La Liga last season meaning they have secured an automatic qualification place in the 2018/19 Champions League.
