While Premier League clubs are unable to conduct transfer business regarding incomings, players can still depart England’s top-flight. One example could see Danny Drinkwater leave Stamford Bridge before the end of August.

According to the Daily Star, Maurizio Sarri is keen to offload Danny Drinkwater before the end of the month. The 28-year-old midfielder, who has been capped three times by England, has failed to impose himself at the club having made a £35M switch from Leicester City.

Drinkwater only made 22 appearances in all competitions for the club last season, with only 12 of those coming in the Premier League. Despite featuring in our Community Shield defeat to Manchester City, Drinkwater is widely expected to leave the club just a year after joining the Blues.

The report states that the Englishman is deemed surplus to requirements at the club, and it’s also said that he has attracted interest from Bundesliga side, Schalke.
