In a somewhat surprising statement, Victor Moses has confirmed his retirement from international football at the age of 27. Our versatile winger has been capped 37 times for Nigeria, scoring 12 goals for the Super Eagles.

As the BBC reported, Victor Moses has retired from international football. The 27-year-old played a vital role for us as we won our fifth Premier League title in the 2016/17 season, his willingness to transform into a right wing-back allowed Antonio Conte to establish his favoured 3-4-3 formation.

To date, Moses has amassed 124 appearances for the clubs, accumulating a total of 18 goals. While the Nigerian has occupied a more defensive role over the duration of the past two seasons, it’s probable that he’ll feature in a more advanced setting, as a winger, under the guidance of Maurizio Sarri.

Moses – who has valued at £18M by transfermarkt – explained the reasoning behind his decision. The following quotes are from the BBC.

“I have experienced some of the best moments of my life wearing the Super Eagles shirt and have memories with me that will last a lifetime.”

“However, I feel that now is the right time to step away in order to be able to focus fully on my club career and young family, as well as to allow the next generation the opportunity to step up and to flourish.”

“Thank you for the memories and good luck to the team for the future.”
