We delve in to the Chelsea FanCast Archive over the summer break and dig up some classic Chelsea FanCast’s from the past. This week’s episode is Chelsea FanCast #226

On this week’s Classic Chelsea FanCast we repeat the show originally recorded on 4th December 2012 where Stamford Chidge grills a panel of football journalists to find out why the press coverage of Chelsea is so negative. The panel includes Martin Lipton (Mirror); Neil Ashton (Daily Mail); Rob Shepherd (ex-NOTW) and Dan Levene (Fulham Chronicle)

Most Chelsea fans would claim that for the past year and probably longer, the club and the fans have been on the end of a right kicking by the press. Is the negativity justified or is it driven by an anti-Chelsea agenda? Well there’s only one way to find out, and that’s to ask the best football writers in the business.

We assembled a panel including Martin Lipton (Mirror); Neil Ashton (Daily Mail); Rob Shepherd (ex-NOTW) and Dan Levene (Fulham Chronicle) to debate a number of questions listeners to the show sent in, in front of an audience of Chelsea fans.

In the first part of the show issues such as the perceived negativity toward Chelsea and Roman Abramovich and the pack mentality of the Press were discussed. In part two Terry-gate and Clattenburg-gate and the moral outrage displayed by the Press was discussed and in the final part our attention was turned to the Press and the impact of social media; press relations with the club and the fans and how it can be improved.

Recorded in Putney Station in front of a live audience, it was a unique opportunity for Chelsea fans to explain how they feel and get a response from the Press as to what is really going on and why.
