Stamford Chidge is joined by Jonathan Kydd and Tim Rolls, author of Diamonds, Dynamos and Devils’ and ‘Stamford Bridge is Falling Down’ to chew the fat over the latest Chelsea news and look back at the 1972-73 season in ’50 Years of Chelsea’

On the show tonight, we praise Chelsea’s latest statement on their response to the Covid-19 pandemic but question the media’s reaction. With the rumour of a return to football behind closed doors starting in late June we ask is this the straw that breaks the camel’s back or will absence have made the heart grow fonder. And Olivier Giroud has purportedly signed a new one-year deal, having almost gone in January. But is the intention for him to stay or is it to increase his re-sale value?

In part two and three we continue our ’50 Years of Chelsea’ series looking back at the 1972-73 season. For many this marks the beginning of the end of the Kings of the Kings Road side. Having made a great start to the league campaign, we finished a disappointing 12th as the title challenge fizzled out after a woeful winter period which also saw us getting knocked out in the semi-finals of the League Cup and quarter finals of the FA Cup.

In part four we wrap up with your emails.

If you enjoyed the discussion about the 1972/73 season, covered in Tim’s book, ‘Stamford Bridge Is Falling Down’ we have a 48 hr special Fancast offer, where the paperback is available through eBay for just £13 inc UK postage. Tim will sign the copy with a dedication too. Link here
