Happy New Year Chelsea Fancasters! After a rather strange Christmas and a disappointing run of Chelsea games, (not to mention a Twitter run in with Chidge!) I’ve taken a bit of a break from the social media circus that follows Chelsea.
I wrote off the Morecambe game as a training session and tried not to think too hard about Chelsea.
As of writing this article, we haven’t yet played Fulham but I’m very optimistic and think a win today could be exactly what they players need as a pick-me-up leading into a very important month in our season.

Firstly, Fikayo Tomori. I deliberately have steered away from this subject since I started writing for the Fancast as I was certain he would surface in the team again. He hasn’t. For me personally I am starting to worry about his future as a Chelsea player.
I for one thought when he came on against Liverpool back in September that he was excellent. I also thought he had a very solid game against Spurs in the Carabao Cup.
Yet he still very rarely makes the bench let alone get some game time. Now I understand we know very little and next to nothing about what goes on in the Chelsea camp. But I fear what is going on isn’t good.
Just recently I had a university lecture held by former footballer Robbie Keane. He stated in this lecture that no matter what the press think they know, majority of the time it couldn’t be further from the truth.
Applying this knowledge to the Tomori case then begs the question, has he fallen out with Frank Lampard?
Marcos Alonso clearly has after his antics at West Brom, but Tomori too?
Tactically I think Tomori fits well into Lampard’s set up and if Kurt Zouma hadn’t been so good this season then I think we may have seen some more of Tomori.

But then again we haven’t even seen Tomori play in the so called lesser games. Matches at home to Krasnador and away at Rennes were games I fully expected to see Tomori get 90 minutes. As Robbie says, we don’t know what’s
going on in any football camp, I just hope Tomori isn’t on the transfer list.

After looking at Chelsea’s season, we are roughly at the halfway point. We aren’t a million miles away from the top two. A few games here or there and we are easily back amongst it.
We have a very favourable FA Cup draw which I think Frank should fully exploit. The UEFA Champions League draw may seem like a tough one as Atletico are flying in La Liga, but lets not forget, that could mean the Champions League takes a back seat for them.
So all in all I think after a swing of results we could really re-energise our current form and our season. We still have some huge six-pointers to play in this season. Spurs away, Liverpool away and United at home I think could seriously change the season for us.
Manchester United have proved that with a bit of luck and some good player performances that you can turn a teams season around. I believe that this Chelsea team is better than Manchester United. Our squad is better. Our Coach is better. We should be above that United side. I know I may look at football with Chelsea tinted glasses, but I know for a fact this Chelsea team should be out performing the current league leaders.
By all means many people will call me out on that and point me towards the league table. However, we have nearly half a season to go, and that’s when I’ll turn and look at the league table.

To sign this article off I just want to say to this wonderful group of Chelsea fans, I hope despite Coronavirus you’re all doing okay. Times are tough but we need to keep trying to fight the virus and stay positive. Keep using Chelsea as an escape, win lose or draw just try and stay positive. I know many of you may not know me, but if anyone is ever struggling during this pandemic feel free to message me through Twitter or Instagram (@TompsettLui)
Keep the Blue Flag flying high and up the Chels!
