It is absolutely no secret that Jorghino is my favourite Chelsea player (don’t worry purists Mount is a very close second!)
So this past couple of weeks under Thomas Tuchel has been fantastic for me. Not only because Chelsea have been winning with considerable ease, but because Jorginho has been a permanent fixture in the Tuchel XI.
I think it’s fair to say that both Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic can play together quite well under Tuchel’s new system. Don’t get me wrong, I think if the midfield comes under more pressure against a stronger team then maybe it would need bolstering.
However, I think the way this will be bolstered is by Mason Mount dropping in and make the double 6 a solid 3.
This kind of happened against Spurs, but with Tottenham being so utterly toothless it happened rather infrequently. Kovacic has also seemed like he’s back to his best due to new instruction under Tuchel. He has seemed to travel forward a lot more and by doing this I think it encourages Mount to also go forward and help the attacks even more than he normally would.

On the topic of Mount, so far this season he has been our best player, that isn’t up for debate either. My father and I were having a good discussion about Mount the other day and we was both trying to find a midfielder in the past like him.
We both tried to convince ourselves that he plays like Frank Lampard, but let’s be honest, he’s a very different player. He travels with the ball in the same way Kaka did, cute flicks and sharp turns are also very reminicent of the Brazilian.
We also thought he had the determination of one Steven Gerrard. Now I’m not saying Lampard wasn’t determined, because he was. But Gerrard and Mount aren’t too dissimilar, and here’s for why. They both are playing for their boyhood club, they both came through the ranks, they both have an undying engine when they cross the white line and they will give absolutely everything until they can’t run anymore.
You can see in both their games how they would give an arm and leg for the badge. Something which is very rare in todays modern game. Luckily for Chelsea though, we have players straight outta Cobham that all have the same mentality of Mount.
Callum Hudson-Odoi has started life under Tuchel in amazing form. He takes players on no matter where he is on the pitch and it’s fantastic to see. After Chidge mentioned on a podcast a few weeks ago that CHO may finally be overcoming his post-injury trauma, we are finally seeing the CHO who played under Maurizio Sarri.
I like CHO have had major surgery from a football injury. Like CHO my injury wasn’t from a tackle but and awkward turn when dribbling. I totally get why he’s struggled to gain confidence as I’m still on that road of recovery that I think he has finally finished. I’m very confident that CHO is going to have a stellar end to the season.
Ahead of Thursdays game against Barnsley, I’m thinking Tuchel needs to give a few players a good 90 minutes. Hakim Ziyech, N’golo Kante and Emerson are three of the names I think need to play.

As was said on the podcast, Tuchel likes to tinker so there’s a good to fair chance we’ll see a whole host of changes. I think that Kante especially has been rather lacklustre when he’s come on over the past few games. He needs minutes in his legs after the injury he had.

He’s clearly been a few seconds off the pace of the game. It would also be great to see Ziyech back to his best again, he’s another player that I hope can have a resurgence like Timo Werner is having. As all Chelsea fans will agree, we’re just waiting on the goals to flow now…
