On the topic of Mount, so far this season he has been our best player, that isn’t up for debate either. My father and I were having a good discussion about Mount the other day and we was both trying to find a midfielder in the past like him.
We both tried to convince ourselves that he plays like Frank Lampard, but let’s be honest, he’s a very different player. He travels with the ball in the same way Kaka did, cute flicks and sharp turns are also very reminicent of the Brazilian.
We also thought he had the determination of one Steven Gerrard. Now I’m not saying Lampard wasn’t determined, because he was. But Gerrard and Mount aren’t too dissimilar, and here’s for why. They both are playing for their boyhood club, they both came through the ranks, they both have an undying engine when they cross the white line and they will give absolutely everything until they can’t run anymore.
You can see in both their games how they would give an arm and leg for the badge. Something which is very rare in todays modern game. Luckily for Chelsea though, we have players straight outta Cobham that all have the same mentality of Mount.
Callum Hudson-Odoi has started life under Tuchel in amazing form. He takes players on no matter where he is on the pitch and it’s fantastic to see. After Chidge mentioned on a podcast a few weeks ago that CHO may finally be overcoming his post-injury trauma, we are finally seeing the CHO who played under Maurizio Sarri.
I like CHO have had major surgery from a football injury. Like CHO my injury wasn’t from a tackle but and awkward turn when dribbling. I totally get why he’s struggled to gain confidence as I’m still on that road of recovery that I think he has finally finished. I’m very confident that CHO is going to have a stellar end to the season.
