Mourinho’s men dominate combined team

Christian Eriksen would be the only Tottenham player to get into a combined Chelsea and Tottenham starting XІ, analysis from Football Fanager shows.

Chelsea and Tottenham combined 11The midfield maestro is the sole Spurs representative to command a place in the top 11 players from both clubs this season on Football Fanager’s fantasy manager game ahead of the showdown between the pair in the Capital One Cup on Sunday afternoon.

The Dane has earned 121 points on Football Fanager this campaign, the lowest total of those that make the team. League leaders Chelsea have two of Europe’s best performers in Eden Hazard (210) and John Terry (189).

Harry Kane might be the hottest property in English football at present but his haul of 119 points means he just misses out on a place in the side. The 21-year-old would make the bench ─ and as Nemanja Matic is suspended for the final would be next to come into the side ─ alongside teammates Nacer Chadli (84) and Erik Lamela (70).

But the remaining four places would all be taken by Blues players, demonstrating the strength of their London rivals’  squad – Cesar Azpilicueta (109), Didier Drogba (84), Ramires (81) and Petr Cech (69).

The latter’s points score is extremely impressive as Cech has only started seven games this season, compared to an average of 23 in this theoretical matchday squad.

Marc Saba of Football Fanager said: “Tottenham fans will be dreaming of a repeat of the 2008 League Cup final when they face Chelsea but our research shows they are up against it and that suggests Jose Mourinho’s men should easily avenge the 5-3 defeat earlier in the season.”

Football Fanager awards or deducts points to players in Europe’s top five leagues across 18 different categories. For example, a goal scored by a striker is worth five points, one by a midfielder six points and one by a defender or goalkeeper seven points. Starting a game, coming on as a substitute, assists, clean sheets and winning a game all accrue points while losing, yellow and red cards, as well as conceding goals if players are defenders or keepers all see points taken off.

Fantasy managers choose a team from a £250m budget and can enter leagues for free or for a small fee and win prizes for the best performing team over a weekend, a particular competition, or a whole season.

    Arrogant Chelsea as normal

  3. Spud says:

A team that won 5-3 last time they met did pretty well considering only one of them is “good enough”. What does that say about how well the Special One is managing the other 10 ?
