EveryFan research discovers the nation’s favourite match day meal
- 20% of Premier League fans opt for chippy on a match day

EveryFan has found that the nation’s favourite match day meal is fish and chips, with 1 in 5 Premier League fans tucking into chippy on their way to the match.
The trailblazing social betting app, launched for the 2016/17 season, commissioned pollsters Opinium to survey fans of every Premier League club, and discovered that fish and chips (20% of respondents) topped the match day meal charts, closely followed by meat pie (16%), cheeseburger (11%), hamburger (9%) and sandwiches (8%).
With over 360,000[1] fans expected to be packed into Premier League stadiums for this weekend’s, that’s a staggering 72,205 portions of cod, haddock, plaice or pollock to be put away before kick-off.

Of the London clubs, almost a third (27%) of West Ham United fans enjoy a chippy on match day, meaning that the Hammers top the capitals’ fans eating 15,390 portions ahead of kick-off. It’s almost double that of Chelsea and Arsenal fans, who are closer to 8,000 portions of fish and chips.

Manchester United fans are the biggest fish and chip eaters in the league, with an estimated 16,813 portions sold every home game. Following up are West Ham (15,390), Liverpool (12,418), Manchester City (10,940) and Sunderland (9,660).
Lager topped the tipple charts, with 21% of fans opting for the hoppy booze as their favourite. Non-alcoholic drinks also featured strongly in the top five, with soft drinks (15%), coffee (14%), tea (13%) coming ahead of ale (10%).

Fans from just six clubs didn’t cite lager as their premier thirst-quencher. Bournemouth (25%), Southampton (21%) and Hull fans (19%) sip coffee, Leicester (22%) and Manchester City (20%) followers sup tea and Sunderland enthusiasts go for ale (17%).
