Roma is currently positioned in second place in Group C.

UCL story so far

Atletico Madrid and Chelsea were expected to dominate the group.

Nonetheless, Roma – to their credit – have illustrated their ability to compete with the Premier League champions and with one of Spain’s most proficient teams.

Having registered two draws (against Atletico and Chelsea) and a victory against Qarabag, the Italians currently occupy second place in the group.

A victory for Chelsea would represent a significant step towards qualification for the tournament’s knockout rounds. However, a Roma triumph would place the Italians top of the group.

Best player

The issue of Roma’s best player was settled in irrefutable terms during the corresponding fixture at Stamford Bridge.

Edin Dzeko – the former Manchester City striker – exhibited remorseless quality in front of goal to terrorise our defence. Despite having amassed a two-goal lead, our advantage rapidly diminished in the form of three unanswered goals by Roma, two of which were scored by the experienced Bosnian forward.

He’s been in tremendous form this season, having scored ten goals in 13 games in all competitions for Roma. During that time, he’s also provided one assist.

If we’re to contain Roma’s attacking threat we must ensure that we negate Edin Dzeko, he must not be allowed to influence the game.
