Bournemouth has endured a difficult start to their Premier League campaign.

Story so far

Bournemouth’s ascension from football league minnows to a recognised Premier League outfit is one of the most sensational and awe-inspiring stories of recent times.  Eddie Howe has performed heroically in his capacity as the Cherries’ manager to orchestrate such a stunning change of fortunes.

During their first two seasons in the Premier League, they finished in 16th and 9th place which is demonstrative of the marvellous managerial qualities that Eddie Howe flaunts. It’s also worth considering that Bournemouth’s financial resources aren’t as extensive as many of their divisional competitors which reinforces the excellence that characterises their achievements.

However, they’ve endured a strenuous start to the new season. They’re currently positioned in 19th place having only attained seven points from a possible 27. Additionally, they’ve lost six of their nine league games, yet they’re beginning to accumulate more points in recent games.

Best player

According to Whoscored, Andrew Surman has been the Cherries’ best player this season. The South African has scored two league goals while also amassing one man of the match award.

Throughout his eight Premier League appearances the 31-year-old has averaged a match rating of seven which is significantly higher than his fellow teammates.

Interestingly, the game will denote the opportunity for Asmir Begovic and Nathan Ake to impress against their former team. The pair has failed to illustrate the best of their abilities this season.
