A preview of Liverpool ahead of our forthcoming Premier League clash.

The story so far

Liverpool currently occupy fifth place in the Premier League table, having amassed 22 points from a possible 36 in the division this season. Despite the fact that Liverpool have only lost two fixtures, they have drawn four games, meaning that the Reds have only won half of their matches in the league so far.

From an attacking perspective, Jurgen Klopp’s side have been lethally proficient in front of goal. Statistically, they currently have the third-best attack in England’s top flight. Nonetheless, the Reds have been typically poor from a defensive aspect, having conceded 17 goals in the division – an average of more than a goal conceded per game.

The key to defeating Liverpool is negating the quality of their attack, as the fragility of their defensive unit can be exposed quickly – as was demonstrated by their second-half collapse in the Champions League against Sevilla.

Best player

Chelsea’s former winger, Mohammed Salah, has been in inspired form for the Reds this season. The 25-year-old has scored a stunning total of nine league goals, and he’s also provided two assists in 12 league appearances for Klopp’s side this season.

Indeed, his attacking output has been mightily impressive, and he’s forged a very productive relationship with Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino. If the Blues are to neutralise Liverpool’s attack, it’s of the utmost importance that Salah’s ability to influence the game is hindered.
