A look at our opponents ahead of tomorrow’s critical Champions League game.

The story so far

Since being thumped 6-0 by the Premier League champions in September, the Azerbaijani champions have performed commendably to attain two points from three games against AS Roma and Atletico Madrid (twice). Most impressive of all is the fact that Qarabag have managed to register two draws in both of their fixtures against Atletico and they were only beaten 2-1 by AS Roma on home soil.

Subsequently, it is of the utmost importance that we don’t underestimate the challenge that we face tomorrow night. It is a treasured opportunity to assert our position in the knock-out stages of the Champions League. Thus we must seize that chance emphatically.

Best player

According to Whoscored, Qarabag’s Bosnian goalkeeper Ibrahim Sehic has been their best player in the Champions League this season. The 29-year-old has attained the man of the match award in three of the four European games that he’s played this season, the pinnacle of which was ensuring that a ten-man Qarabag achieved a clean sheet against the attacking might of Atletico Madrid.

Seemingly lessons have been learnt following their 6-0 defeat to us on the very first matchday of the Champions League; we must be prepared for a difficult battle.
