The Blues are looking to increase their revenue.

According to the Evening Standard, Chelsea has been in discussions with a Chinese company to increase the club’s revenue to £650M.

Rumours have been circulating that the club has held talks with investors regarding a potential £500M deal to fund the redevelopment of Stamford Bridge.

While the Standard report that this is merely speculation and there isn’t truth to these claims, it is further evidence of Chris Townsend’s desire to establish Chelsea’s status as a commercial and financial powerhouse.

He has previously outlined his intention for the club.

“Over the next seven to 10 years [we want Chelsea] to be a top four or five club in Europe [by revenue], rather than ranked eighth.

Manchester United, Manchester City and others have between 50 and 70 [sponsors]. We plan to focus on more premium brands in a far more limited range of categories.”
