The promising young star has endured a bitterly frustrating loan spell at Middlesbrough.

This was widely perceived as the season that Lewis Baker would establish himself as a star, either at Chelsea or in the form of a Premier League loan. The Englishman had returned from an exceedingly fruitful two-year spell at Vitesse, where he became an instrumental figure as the club won their first major honour.

Nonetheless, having agreed upon a loan-move to Boro, he’s been deprived of first-team involvement. Thus, his capacity to progress as a player has been hindered.

The 22-year-old hasn’t featured for Boro since their 2-2 draw with Brentford in September, and he’s been an absentee from the matchday squad for the past four league games in succession.

Conceivably, you would expect Chelsea to intervene and recall the midfielder. However, GazetteLive report that no such plans are in place from the Blues and Baker is poised to remain at the club for the foreseeable future. It is possible that the situation will change in January.
