Emerson Palmieri has expressed his happiness at joining the Blues!

Chelsea confirmed the signing of Emerson Palmieri from AS Roma on a four-and-a-half-year deal. It is believed that the fee was agreed in the region of £17.6M.

The 23-year-old has been handed the number 33 shirt with the club, which incidentally was worn by another Brazilian, Alex, during his time with the club.

Emerson began his professional career with Santos in Brazil before joining Palmero on a loan deal. Having impressed during his brief stint in the Serie A, the defender made his first permanent move when he opted to join AS Roma.

Over a period of two-and-a-half-years with the Italian side, Emerson amassed 47 first-team appearances scoring a total of two goals. The defender spoke about his excitement of working alongside Antonio Conte; you can read the rest of his interview at chelseafc.com

“Now I am definitely going to improve here at Chelsea under Antonio Conte. He is someone who has already shown that he is a great coach and everyone who plays with him improves, so I am coming to Chelsea with this perspective, that I am going to be playing with one of the best coaches in the world and I am going to get better.”
