Chelsea are favourites to sign Barkley.

In an eventful day regarding the immediate future of alleged Chelsea transfer target, Ross Barkley, his manager has revealed that he expects the 24-year-old to depart the club this transfer window. Sam Allardyce discussed his future in his press-conference before the Toffees’ upcoming FA Cup clash against Liverpool. The following quotes are from the Evening Standard.

“I think the club was resigned before I got here that they were going to lose Ross so I can’t see that changing, I would expect there would be (contact) some time in this window if there is going to be any interest from any of the big boys.”

The Englishman hasn’t featured for Everton since last May due to a hamstring injury, and despite the fact that Barkley has returned to training, it looks unlikely that he’ll stay at Everton for long.

The England midfielder is allegedly a transfer target for both Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, and the latest odds suggest that the Blues have won the race for the midfielder.

While this may be perceived as a contentious signing, it will help address an issue that has troubled the Blues this season. There has been a distinct lack of goals from midfield, and Barkley’s presence could help resolve that problem. Barkley is valued at £25M by transfermarkt.
