This came out of the blue!

Club Brugge’s 24-year-old defender, Stefano Denswil has revealed that he dreams of playing for Chelsea. The Dutchman began his career with Ajax where he amassed 39 appearances, before transferring to the Belgian club in 2015.

A series of impressive performances in the Belgian Pro League almost secured his move to newly-promoted, Brighton and Hove Albion. However, much to Desnwil’s dismay, a move to the new Premier League outfit failed to materialise. He’s rated at £4.5M by transfermarkt.

The defender has played as a left-back and a defensive midfielder in the past, yet he’s most competent at centre-back. Speaking to Fox, cited by Metro, the defender disclosed his ambitions.

‘Everyone has a dream club, and I also have one: Chelsea, It would be nice if I could ever play there. As a defender, you really learn to defend there.’

Considering Chelsea’s wealth of options at centre-back, it is unlikely that the Blues are seeking defensive reinforcement this January. Nonetheless, it’s difficult to anticipate what will happen in the future.
