Cahill is looking for that winning feeling against WBA tonight

In an interview with chelseafc.com, Gary Cahill has expressed his intentions of returning to winning ways in tonight’s game against West Brom.

The captain was bitterly disappointing in our dreadful 4-1 defeat to Watford, which succeeded an embarrassing 0-3 home loss to Bournemouth.

In our previous two league games, we’ve conceded seven goals which has seen the club fall to fifth in the Premier League table.

We’re currently 22 points adrift from the current league leaders Manchester City, who look certain to win the division at the end of the season. Chelsea will soon be conceding the status of ‘Champions’ to the Manchester club.

Additionally, the Blues are six points afoot from Manchester United in second place yet have the opportunity to cut that gulf to three points with a victory against the Baggies.

In light of our recent defeats, Gary Cahill believes that tonight’s game is even more critical.

‘It’s important whoever it was against,’ said the Chelsea skipper. ‘Because of the last two results, and not just the results, the performances which went with them, it’s not been good enough. As players, and I’m sure as a manager, the thing you want is for the next game to come along so you can go out there and put that right. We have the opportunity tonight so whoever the game was against it would have been important.

‘I feel this month is very important. When you come out at the end of February, it could shape the season somewhat, so we realise that and if tonight we can get the right result, with the right type of performance, we will start building the confidence back into the team.’

Chelsea have also got a big Champions League fixture as well, as they host Barcelona in the round of 16 first leg in a game in which they are big underdogs with 888sport.

So all in all, this month will go a long way to determining how successful Chelsea’s season is.
