An exceedingly interesting development for Frank Lampard.

According to the Metro, Roman Abramovich is poised to offer Frank Lampard a position on Chelsea’s first-team coaching staff. It is reported that the owner is hoping that the fan favourite will become the Blues’ manager in the future.

Conceivably, the owner is keen to integrate Lampard in the coaching setup as soon as he can. The 39-year-old has been studying for his UEFA ‘A’ coaching licence over the duration of the past 18 months, and he has previously expressed his intention of going into management.

Frank Lampard’s status as a Chelsea legend is undeniable, and he is regarded many supporters as the club’s greatest ever player. Famously, the Englishman scored 211 goals in 648 appearances for the Blues, and he was an indispensable figure during an unprecedented era of success for the team.

In a recent interview with Talksport, Lampard discussed his ambition to get into management. The following quotes are from the Metro.

‘I’ve put together a lot of experience now, and I am in a good place.’

‘I’m keeping my eyes open in terms of what I want to do in management. No matter what level it is I do think you have to come back down to the beginning and start learning again.’

‘I’m in that process. I’ve worked quite hard at that and now I’ve got to wait for the right job. I’m trying to put together all the things I’ve learned from all my managers, I’ve had a lot.’

‘Hopefully I can do that and create my own ideas and philosophies and see if I can make it work.’
