Danny Drinkwater could be poised to leave Chelsea only a year after joining the Blues.

According to the Daily Mirror, Danny Drinkwater is expected to leave Chelsea during the summer transfer window. The 28-year-old has failed to establish himself as a starter in Antonio Conte’s squad.

Since joining the Blues from Leicester for £30M, the Englishman has only amassed five league starts for the club this season. Accordingly, the midfielder has been deemed surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge.

However, it seems that Chelsea have already identified a replacement for the 28-year-old.  Nice’s Jean Michael Seri has been regarded as a potential target for the club. The 26-year-old was alleged of interest to Barcelona, Manchester United and Arsenal during the previous transfer window.

It is believed that Danny Drinkwater will be sold to provide funds for Chelsea to launch their move for Seri.
