While we’ve been fairly inactive in the transfer window, we’ve finally announced our first signing of the summer. Napoli’s Jorginho has followed in the footsteps of Maurizio Sarri by joining the Blues.
As was confirmed by the official club website, Jorginho has become our first signing of the summer, joining the club on a five-year deal from Napoli.
The 26-year-old has been allocated the number five shirt, and his arrival is likely to evoke excitement among Chelsea supporters.
It’s rumoured that we beat Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City to his signature, which is illustrative of Jorginho’s quality and calibre. He is valued at £45M by transfermarkt, but it’s believed that Chelsea more than that to secure his signing.
The Italian midfielder has expressed his happiness having joined a club of Chelsea’s calibre.
‘I am absolutely ecstatic to be here at Chelsea. It is not easy to become part of such a big team so I am very, very happy. I am excited to play in such an intense league, for a team that gives everything to play and win.’
Our director, Marina Granovskaia affirmed that the club is very pleased with his capture.
