While the transfer window may have concluded for Premier League clubs, European teams still have plenty of time to conduct their business. One such example, sees Tiemoue Bakayoko join AC Milan on loan from Chelsea.

Chelsea have officially confirmed that the Frenchman has joined the Italian giants for the remainder of the season, and it’s widely believed that the loan deal includes an option to buy.

According to the Metro, the deal includes an option for Bakayoko to join the Serie A side for €40M, which equates to £35.7M.

Having joined the club from AS Monaco for a sizeable fee last season, the 23-year-old failed to emulate the dazzling performances that he continually produced in Ligue 1. And, despite scoring three goals in all competitions, Bakayoko often looked lost on the pitch – struggling to familiarise himself with the demands of Premier League football.

This isn’t to insinuate that the Frenchman is a bad player, his performances against Spurs away or United at home demonstrated otherwise. Nonetheless, we didn’t see those commanding displays enough last season. Following the summer arrivals of Jorginho and Kovacic, it seems that the 23-year-old has been deemed surplus to requirements.

Best of luck, Bakayoko!
